MVA eyes 2 major projects for completion this year

The Marianas Visitors Authority is eyeing to complete two major projects this year: the street lighting of the whole stretch of the Beach Road pathway and repairs of the road going to Mt. Tapochau.

Beach Road and Mt. Tapochau are two of the most frequented tourist areas on Saipan.
According to Rep. Joseph “Lee Pan” Guerrero (R-Saipan), the MVA disclosed the projects during a meeting on Friday.
Guerrero, who heads the House Committee on Tourism, earlier requested the MVA to discuss the tourism body’s specific plans to improve tourism.
The two projects, according to Guerrero, were discussed at the meeting. “These are the biggest projects for the MVA in 2015,” Guerrero said.
The lawmaker said lighting up the pathway along Beach Road, from Kilili Beach all the way to Garapan, is primarily “for the safety of tourists.”
The road repair on Mt. Tapolchau is also meant to make the trip safer for tourists going to the landmark site.
The MVA has promised to complete the two projects in 2015, Guerrero said.
