New Philippine passports being released

The Philippine Consulate General in Guam, in coordination with the Office of Honorary Consul Eli Arago, is releasing passports to those who renewed their passport last May 22, 23, and 24, 2019. You can pick up the new passports at the Finasisu Terraces, Bldg. D, second floor, at the top of the Mini-Mart, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (12pm to 1pm breaktime).

Please bring your old passport and receipt. If someone will pick up, need authorization letter from the applicant/s.  For any inquiry or details call Mel Santos at 233-6293. (PR)

Cabrera lands on Hollins’ dean’s list

ROANOKE, Va.—Gedin Auria Cabrera, a sophomore psychology major at Hollins University, has been named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester. To attain this distinction, students must earn at least a 3.5 average on a 4.0 grading scale.

A graduate of Kagman High School, Cabrera is the child of Steven and Geraldine Cabrera of Saipan.

Hollins is an independent liberal arts university offering undergraduate education to women, selected graduate programs for men and women, and community outreach initiatives. Its distinctions include a nationally ranked creative writing program, one of the oldest study abroad programs in the country, and extensive internship opportunities. (PR)

BMV closed at 3:30pm today

The Bureau of Motor Vehicle will be closed today, July 11, from 3:30pm through 4:30pm, for a staff briefing relating to immigration and the Real I.D. Act amendment. BMV will re-open the following day, July 12, to resume normal department operations. (PR)

Survivors, caregivers support meeting today

All people facing cancer, their family members, and caregivers are invited to the Commonwealth Cancer Association monthly support meeting today, July 11, starting at 5:30pm at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Chamolinian Room. DMS registration now open

Dandan Middle School would like to remind all new and returning students that registration for school year 2019 -2020 is open. All students must register for the new school year. Classes will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019.

To be officially registered, the following documents must be submitted: complete registration form (with a map to the school, updated addresses and telephone numbers, contact information; health clearance card (blue card); student insurance. (PR)

USCIS reps at July SHRM meeting today

The membership meeting of the Society for Human Resource Management NMI Chapter today, July 11, 2019, will feature U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services representatives who will talk about the E-Verify program and form I-9. The meeting will take place at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s ballroom beginning at 11am.

Rea Bisa, USCIS management and program analyst, Kamana Mathur, USCIS community relations officer, and Jennifer Lane, regional community relations lead, will do a 30-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session.

BoG Saipan branches closed on Saturday

Bank of Guam’s Saipan branches will be closed this Saturday, July 13, 2019. The bank’s ATMs, online banking, and customer support centers remain available. (PR)
