Northern Marianas College has announced the formation of a local chapter of the Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society.
The chapter was formally installed last Friday, April 20, by admitting its administrative members. The chapter will be inducting its first charter members this Friday, April 27, 2018.
The administrative members of the chapter inducted last Friday include Cyndi Deleon Guerrero as president, Dr. Debra Steed as vice president, Bobbie Hunter as treasurer and chapter advisor, and Geri Hofschneider as co-advisor and administrative assistant.
Approximately 22 years ago, Sigma Beta Delta was created as a business honor society for institutions with regional accreditation. Sigma Beta Delta has now established over 450 chapters in 48 states and internationally.
The purposes of Sigma Beta Delta honor society is to encourage and recognize scholarship and accomplishment among students in the business department and to encourage and promote aspirations toward personal and professional improvement and a life dedicated to honorable service to humankind. It is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.
Sigma Beta Delta also provides an opportunity for the faculty to grant students at Northern Marianas College an international recognition for their outstanding academic achievements in the business department. Candidates for bachelor degrees in the business department who rank in the upper 20 percent of their class at the time if the invitation to membership may be inducted into membership following completion of at least one-half of the degree program in which they are enrolled.
