The NMI Boys U18 National Team grabbed the top spot in the team standings of the Marianas Soccer League Summer Season following a pair of wins last week at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

The Teen Ayuyus first clobbered the Old B Bank last Sept. 2, 15-0, and then had a similar shutout win over Paire Football Club last Sunday, 3-0. The NMI U18 handed Paire its first loss of the season and also took the No. 1 spot in the team standings from the latter after improving to a 5-0-0 win-draw-loss record.

Kohtaro Goto, Jeremiah Diaz, and Richard Steele logged the goals for the NMI U18 after scoring in the 17th, 30th, and 54th minute, respectively.

Steele also hit the board for the NMI U18 in their demolition of the Old B Bank, leading the Teen Ayuyus with his four goals. Kaden Church added three, Brian Lubao, Taka Borja, and Rinto Takahashi made two apiece, and Akira Kadokura and Goto contributed one each.

MP United 6, Kanoa 1

In the other MSL game last weekend, MP United Football Club notched win No. 2 after downing Kanoa Football Club.

Basa Lee paced MPU after firing four goals, while Nick Holt chipped in two. Raphael Zapanta registered the lone goal for Kanoa.

Saipan United 2, NMI WNT 0

Saipan United regained the lead in the division after beating the NMI Women’s National Team last Friday.

Floyd Muña and Michael Devanna scored for Saipan United, which improved its record to 5-0-1 to move back to the top spot in the leaderboard, slighting ahead of Bangladesh Youth.

Bangladesh Youth 2, Matansa 0

Bangladesh Youth earned a 4-0-2 mark after beating Matansa in the second game last Friday.

Shakib Shakib recorded the twin goals for Bangladesh Youth.

Bangladesh FC 3, Island Star 2

In last Sunday’s curtain-raiser, Bangladesh Football Club nipped Island Star for its second victory.

Bangladesh FC raced to a 3-0 lead in the first half to gain enough cushion and survive Island Star’s uprising in the second.

Md. Titu Ahmed scored two goals, while Md. Soheal Akanda tallied the other one for Bangladesh FC. Zhixiang Lin and Wei Ping Chen made the two goals for Island Star, which has only one win so far in the season.

Meanwhile, the other match last Sunday had The One FC and Shirley’s Football Club settling for a scoreless draw.
