Office of Youth Affairs sets new hours

The CNMI Office of Youth Affairs under the Office of the Governor announced last Thursday a change in their weekly youth centers’ operational hours to accommodate parents and children during the school year.

This new schedule will allow the Youth Affairs Office to better serve its participants that are attending school on a half-day and full-day basis by providing them with more time to enjoy each centers’ weekly activities and upcoming programs for after school.

The new operational hours for the CNMI Office of Youth Affairs will be 8:3am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday with the exception of government holidays and closures every other Friday. The CNMI Office of Youth Affairs will resume normal government hours of 7:30am to 4:30pm only during longer school breaks such as Christmas break, spring break, and summer breaks.

“As we welcome the new school year, we want to ensure that students will have ample time after school to utilize the centers,” said special assistant for youth affairs Monique Boyer Sablan.

The CNMI Office of Youth Affairs has two centers: the Gualo Rai Youth Learning Center and the Chalan Kanoa Man’hoben Center. The San Vicente Youth Learning Center is set to open early next year.

Currently, the Koblerville Youth Learning Center and San Antonio Youth Learning Center are closed for renovations.

Parents or legal guardians must provide food/drinks for their children daily as well as sign in and sign out their children. Entrance into the center daily is subject to the maximum capacity level at each center. Contact or 235-1299 for more information. (PR)
