PDM Promoters, Inc. did its first cleanup of the year last Saturday, Jan. 21, and hauled in a total of 640 lbs of trash.

Sonia Siwa, the non-profit’s coordinator, said a total of 26 volunteers from the Saipan Awaodori Team and Kinpachi Restaurant took part in the monthly cleanup that began at 9am and ended at 11am.

The group picked up trash at Paseo de Marianas and inside the surroundings of Coral Tree Avenue along Beach Road in Garapan as well as along AMP Road and the old Winchell’s Road.

“For the past seven years volunteers are actively involved in this program, doing its part to promote a clean and healthy local environment. The volunteers did bush-cutting, picked up litter and trash, trimmed plant and cut bushes along Paseo de Marianas,” said Siwa.

She also thanked the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality for waiving the fee for trash disposal.

PDM Promoters’ monthly cleanups are held every Sunday and are supported by BECQ and the non-profit’s major sponsors T-Galleria and TSL Foundation.

Siwa said T-Galleria and TSL Foundation’s support enables them to have the cleaning materials needed for their monthly cleanups. Kinpachi Restaurant provides the meal and snacks for the volunteers.

Volunteers of PDM Promoters will be at it again next February when they conduct their second monthly cleanup of the year.
