It’s almost that time of the year for Saipan’s most colorful event—the Pacific Islands Club-hosted Hafa Adai 5K.
The event is open to the first 1,500 registrants. Proceeds from the April 21 run will be donated to Saipan Cares for Animals. Saipan Cares for Animals is a non-profit organization with volunteers who have retired from their careers and are now helping save the animals on the streets, provide care, and hopefully find them new homes.
“We care about the animals and we want to give them a chance for a better life. We hope to promote awareness in the community and assist Saipan Care for Animals in saving as many animals as we can,” PIC SEA activities manager June Keller said.
Once again, PIC has partnered up with a number of sponsors to help make the 5K successful. Among them are Amber Lynn Mendiola and her team at Let’s Move Marianas. Let’s Move Marianas will be coordinating gift certificates for sporting goods to the Top 3 schools with the most participants. Elementary, middle and high schools have all been encouraged to join the event. The kids get a chance to help the cause and earn some new gear for their schools at the same time.
Aside from helping Saipan Cares for Animals, all participants will be entered into the postrace raffle and are welcome to join in some fun and games for awesome prizes. These include annual memberships to PIC Saipan along with lunches, Sunday brunches, gym memberships.
The 5KM will start and finish at PIC Saipan and will feature five different coloring stations along the Beach Road route. Participants are encouraged to wear white attire so that the full effect of the coloring stations can be seen post race. Volunteers will be celebrating each runner’s arrival by greeting them with “holi powder.”
PIC Saipan would like to thank all the generous sponsors that made this event possible: E-Land, Kensington Hotel, Coral Ocean Golf Resort, Pacific Trading Company, Let’s Move Marianas, Saipan Vegas, and Triple J Five Star Wholesale.
Entry fees are only $10. Entry forms for the Hafa Adai 5K are available at the PIC lobby.
