There will be a scheduled power interruption on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 5am to 10am, to allow line crew of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. to safely replace two wooden power poles with concrete poles along Beach Road in Garapan.
This is part of an ongoing hazard mitigation project of the Federal Emergency Management Agency that involves the replacement of 787 wooden poles with concrete poles.
A total of 478 wooden poles have already been replaced with their corresponding pole size. The remaining 309 are to be replaced with their corresponding concrete pole size.
Areas to be affected by Saturday’s power outage are Feeder 2 (2″ Partial): Beach Road, Garapan (Fishing Base to Smiling Cove Marina), Dama Di Noche St., Mapola St., Kadena Di Amor St., McDonald’s/Mobil gas station, TSL Plaza building, Joeten Hafa Adai Shopping Center, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Wild Bills, IHOP, Ajisen Ramen, Coconut St., Coffee Tree Mall, Ginger Ave., Coral Tree Ave., Date St., Paseo de Marianas, Palm St., and Plumeria Ave.
No water well will be affected and only the S5 sewer lift station will be affected.
The traffic light near Bank of Guam intersection will be affected.
Because of the scale of work that will be performed, travelers are urged to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas.
