Team Koka and VOICES of the CNMI-Tinian Chapter had a good turnout on their first weekend for “Ball for MD,” a basketball event intended to raise awareness about muscular dystrophy.
This two-weekend event was organized by non-profit organizations. Last Saturday, the elementary, junior, and high school divisions competed. The last weekend in September is for the adult division.
The first weekend was dedicated to those with lymphoma and the last weekend to those with limb girdle muscular dystrophy. This event served several purposes: awareness, activities for both youth and adults and volunteerism.
The Ballers took first place in the elementary division with Daniel Alvarez named as the “most valuable player,” or MVP. The junior high division first place was taken by Revolution with Preston Dela Cruz as MVP. The high school division first placer was High Flyers with Jared King as MVP. Top scorers for high school: Greg Santos with 46 total points, Eron Borja with 45 total points, and Jared King with 41 total points. Ian Pascua and Eleina Santo performed refereeing duties. (PR)
