Gov. Ralph DLG Torres is in Tokyo, Japan to join officials from the Marianas Visitors Authority in attending the formal signing of a joint promotional agreement between Skymark Airlines and the CNMI.
Torres and first lady Diann were set to return to Saipan last Friday, but he later decided to witness the signing of the agreement.
Negotiations between the CNMI and Skymark officials began in May of this year. “This partnership is part of Gov. Torres’ priority to revitalize the Japan market and reestablish economic and cultural relationships between the people of Japan and the Marianas,” the administration said in a statement.
More details of the agreement will be made available in the coming days.
Skymark is Japan’s third largest carrier.
