The Tan Siu Lin Foundation has been named gold sponsor of the 24th Governor’s Tournament of Champions that will be held this weekend at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
“We are pleased to partner anew with the Governor’s Tournament of Champions organizers in bringing this premier golf tournament and helping raise funds for beautification projects on island and for non-profit groups that provide assistance to members of our community,” TSL Foundation executive director Merlie Tolentino said.
Tolentino was joined by TanHoldings executives in handing over the TSL Foundation’s $5,000 donation to TOC organizers yesterday at the company’s Corporate Office in Beach Road. The TSL Foundation, the charitable arm of TanHoldings, has been supporting TOC in the last eight years.
“We wish all the golfers good luck in this weekend’s competition. We would also like to commend the organizers for putting out this worthy event,” the TSL Foundation official said.
More than 200 players have registered for the two-day contest, according to tournament director Ben Babauta. Majority are Saipan golfers, while Guam has 34 players competing in the annual tournament. China has eight entries, Japan and Rota have six apiece, and Korea and Rota have two each.
“We are all set and the TOC committee members and officials would like to thank everyone, from the sponsors to players and the volunteers, for being part of the 24th Governor’s Tournament of Champions,” Babauta said.
Six flights in the men’s division will be featured in this weekend’s tournament—the Men’s Championship, A, B, C, Senior and Super Senior—while the Ladies Flight will have the Low Gross and Net winners. The Top 3 finishers in the men’s flights and Ladies Low Gross will get 500, $400, and $300 cash, respectively, while Casio watches and $100 worth of DFS gift certificate will be awarded to the No. 4 to 5 placers. The Top 3 in the Ladies Low Net will bring home trophies.
Besides the cash prizes, golfers also have a chance to win a new 2019 Mazda CX-5 Sport and a 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross from Triple J Motors, a Nissan Frontier from Joeten Motors, and 2019 Buick Encore from Guam Auto Spot. The four cars are hole-in-one prizes. (PR)
