CNMI Museum thanks Saipan Mayor’s Office and volunteers
The CNMI Museum extends its sincerest of thanks to Mayor David Apatang and his staff for the significant assistance they extended us with the cleanup.
The Museum sustained significant damage to most of the large trees on the grounds and had significant amount of roof materials wrapped in the trees and blown onto the grounds by Typhoon Soudelor.
The Saipan Mayor’s Office staff spent two days loading and removing the very large piles of debris that had been amassed over the last several weeks. They also assisted cut and remove some of the larger trees that remained uncut, and removed large amounts of roof material.
You could not find a harder-working and more accommodating group of people, working from morning through the close of day, in the sweltering heat, with only a short break for lunch, and this was taken next to their equipment.
We also extend thanks to Cathy Rosario Perry and Barry Wonenberg for volunteering for many days in the cutting and clearing of debris, and to Paul Ackerman and New Garapan Market for the much welcomed cold beverages, and Best Sunshine, for making possible some of the assisting cleanup staff.
