NWA golf tourney gets ready to take off
It’s time to break out the woods and irons because Northwest Airlines is sponsoring the inaugural NWA Golf Tournament for the Children of the CNMI this Sunday, June 13, at the LaoLao Bay Golf Resort—West Course, with all proceeds going to the Children’s Library Project.
Showtime for the tournament is 11am, and an estimated 100 golfers will tee it up in the benefit event for the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library that gets underway with a shotgun start at noon. Players will be using the Double Peoria format in the 18-hole four-player scramble.
There will be a variety of prizes awarded to the top finishers, to include $100 cash and a golf bag for each member of the first place foursome, $75 cash and a bottle of fine wine for each player of the second place team, and $50 cash and meal coupons for each player in the third place foursome.
Golfers that are able to pull of the unlikely feat of landing a hole-in-one on hole No. 3 will win one roundtrip NWA Business Class ticket to anywhere in the U.S.A. or Asia. Players that can one shot hole No. 7 will win one round trip NWA Coach Class ticket anywhere in the U.S.A. or Asia. Triple J Motors is offering a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer to the lucky entrant that can ace hole No. 13, while Joeten Motors will hand over the keys to a Honda Civic for the same feat on hole No. 17.
As a consolation to those that don’t reach the bottom of the cup with one swing of the club, NWA will give a $100 TCV to the striker that lands closest to the pin.
The registration fee for the one-day tourney will be $100, and there will be an awards banquet at the LaoLao Bay Golf Resort immediately after tournament play.
