A Sunday Psalm for a universal mom
On Mother’s Day a celebration day for every Mom
When she gets time off from ceaseless daily chores
Who doesn’t think that their mother is the bomb
For years spent cooking washing and mopping floors
Fixing breakfast for six and more for tonight’s dinner
In the kitchen from dawn until some twilight calm
Five children growing up none getting any thinner
She handles her motherhood with relative aplomb
Helps us with homework gets us ready for school
We take out garbage she bakes cookies and cake
Mother taught us children to obey the Golden Rule
Daddy shot deer Mom fried liver and venison steak
Mothers may have more than one sister and brother
It takes family togetherness to love one another.
