Choju’s Gerald, Jay Art are Season 2 MVPs

Gerald Mamis and Jay Art Palmes of champion team Choju were most valuable player awardees in the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League Season 2 at the Gillette Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Gualo Rai.

During the awards ceremony after the championship showdown between Choju and second place Savemore, Mamis was crowned the finals MVP, while Palmes was the regular season MVP.

Palmes was also bestowed the Best Guard award in the “Mythical 5” awards.

With Palmes as Best Guard was Yuman’s Carl Aldan; Best Forward was Nikko Mejarito and Savemores’ Julius Domine; and the Best Center was Yuman’s Justine Enano.

The Best Coach award went to Choju’s Matt Iguel.

The Sportsmanship awards went to Live 2 Live and Stag; third place went to Yuman, while fourth place was Premier Builders.

Mamis, who put up 9 points all from triples in the last championship game, said he was happy and grateful for the MVP award. “I feel happy that I got it, but it was really a team effort. I didn’t do this by myself. I did everything I could and I’m happy that I got it,” he said.

As for their team’s undefeated run throughout the whole season, he said it was all “hard work. We really wanted to win from the beginning and we got it done in the end.”

In their deciding game against Savemore, he said, “It was a really hard game. We didn’t know if we were going to win because we’re missing a bunch of players but I’m grateful that my team pulled through in the end.”

For Palmes, he said that it feels great to win the regular season MVP and that it was his first time. As for his team’s performance, he said, “We played well as a team together and had communication.”

Sixteen teams started the season with Choju, Savemore, Yuman, Premier Builders, Stag, and Live 2 Live, including Unity Trade, Best Deal, Bourbon Bar & Cafe, Tan Holdings, Kagbros, Tax Pro/Triple L, Long Shot, Elite Force, Lamesa Kusina, and Napa Auto Parts.
