December proclaimed 4D Driving Prevention Month

Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang, along with the CNMI Department of Public Safety, recently proclaimed December 2023 as “CNMI Drunk, Drugged, Drowsy and Distracted (4D) Driving Prevention Month.”

The proclamation was made in order to promote DPS’ CNMI 4D Driving Prevention Campaign, which seeks to fight the problem of dangerous and distracted driving by reminding the public of its hazardous consequences.

DPS Commissioner Clement Bermudes emphasized the importance of public awareness when it comes to 4-D Driving. DPS recognizes that the increase in alcohol consumption during the holidays correlates to an increase in vehicular accidents as well.

To prevent this, the 4D Campaign will be active and in full force this holiday season by conducting zero-tolerance enforcement activities and providing the traditional Designated Driver program.

Palacios and Apatang urge the public to take advantage of the Designated Driver program that DPS is coordinating. They also expressed their gratitude toward DPS for continuing to pursue efforts that keep our community safe.
