NMC’s marketing strategies gain national recognition
The Northern Marianas College, led by the NMC Office of Institutional Advancement and NMC Cooperative Research Extension and Education Services, recently gained national recognition after obtaining three Medallion awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations.
According to an NMC news release last Saturday, NMC’s Office of Institutional Advancement, which is responsible for overseeing college marketing and communication, received two gold Medallions from the NCMPR, one for their video documentary on NMC’s journey since the catastrophic Super Typhoon Yutu, and the other for their social media advertisement promoting NMC’s spring 2023 semester.
In addition to the two gold Medallions, the media team at NMC-CREES also secured a bronze Medallion for a social media advertisement earlier this year.
Robyn Martyn, who is the NCMPR Medallion Awards coordinator and assistant dean of Enrollment and Marketing at Cochise College in Arizona, said she was very impressed with the NMC’s submissions. “I personally enjoyed watching [the video documenting the college’s journey after Super Typhoon Yutu],” Martyn said. “It was a great way to show [the college’s] resiliency after such a tragedy.”
The NCMPR Medallion Awards, which recognize excellence in design and communication, specifically spotlight the achievements of community and technical colleges across NCMPR’s seven districts. NMC operates under District 6, encompassing a region that includes Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah, the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, the Marshall Islands, the CNMI, and Guam.
Notably, this regional competition is exclusive to marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges. To date, NMC has amassed a total of 16 Medallion awards from NCMPR, consisting of seven gold awards, four silver awards, and four bronze awards.
NMC president Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero congratulates the team. “I am extremely proud of the amazing marketing team at OIA and CREES and would like to congratulate them on this achievement,” he said. “This is an extremely remarkable feat, as our team competes with other colleges and universities with significantly more resources than us.”
Frankie Eliptico, who is vice president of NMC Administration and Advancement, leads the college’s marketing team, which includes Raynard Travilla (interim director for Institutional Advancement), Miguel Dandan (communications manager), Renedel Buno (database administrator and lead graphic designer), Casey Huliganga (digital media specialist), Michaela Gatdula (NMC-CREES media specialist), and media interns Camille Hocog, Richard Baleares, Christian Troy Rosimo, Roxzanna Pangelinan, and Patricia Pak.
The mission of OIA is to implement a strategic and integral communications effort that is committed to helping NMC as the premier provider of higher education and training opportunities in the Pacific.
