Dewey pleads guilty in Indiana

The sexual misconduct case against Charles Lee Dewey III (alias Carter Widmor when he hid from authorities on Saipan) has come full circle with Dewey pleading guilty to charges filed against him to include two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

The culmination of Dewey’s case happened last week, Aug. 1, with the defendant pleading guilty to six charges filed against him at the Allen County Superior Court in Indiana.

The eight charges Dewey pleaded guilty to includes two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, child solicitation, possession of child pornography, dissemination of matter harmful to minors, and residential entry.

Pursuant to pleading guilty to the six charges, the State of Indiana has agreed to drop the rape charges filed against Dewey.

Aside from following the court’s order of protection, Dewey was ordered to reimburse the costs of extradition in the amount of $31,660.48 to the “return of fugitives fund” through the clerk of the Allen County Superior Court.

Dewey has yet to be sentenced in this matter.

According to Saipan Tribune archives, representatives of the Indiana Allen County Sheriff’s Department arrived on Saipan back in February to escort and bring fugitive Dewey, alias Carter Allen Widmor, back to Indiana.

Dewey, who has been going by the alias Widmor since he fled the state of Indiana to Saipan back in 2022, was arrested last Jan. 26 at the Kagman Community Health Center where he works. Dewey allegedly admitted to officers his real name and he was immediately arrested.

He was charged with one count of fugitive from justice and was booked and detained at the Department of Corrections.

According to court documents, Dewey fled Indiana where he has over six outstanding arrest warrants on multiple cases involving rape, sexual misconduct with minors, sexual battery, child solicitation, possession of child pornography, dissemination of matter harmful to a minor, and more.

The charges against Dewey date as far back as 2020.

During a status conference last Feb. 14, Dewey upheld his innocence stating he is the victim in all these.
