Blue Haus, Win Pacific win debut of Ali’i Inc./Madflex Preseason
Blue Haus and Win Pacific notched wins in the debut of the Ali’i Inc./Madflex Sports Summer Youth Basketball Tour 2024 Season 1 Preseason Games last Saturday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.
The preseason tourney features four Madflex teams—Blue Haus, Hardt Eye Clinic, JTM Corp., and Win Pacific Corp. The next gameday is this Saturday at 2pm.
The first game, Blue Haus versus Hardt Eye, went into overtime and the former ended it in an 83-79 win. The second game between JTM Corp. and Win Pacific was won by Win Pacific, 51-46.
Blue Haus’ Dane Tibayan won the Player of the Game Award with his game-leading 18 points and his decisions that proved crucial in the final minutes of the game to bag their first win.
The second game was as intense as the first one. Win Pacific’s Webb Alano was the Player of the Game with his floor leadership and game-high 17 points, six rebounds, and two steals.
The event organizers, headed by Dexter Tenorio, founder of Madflex, is also a coach and a FIBA-certified official referee.
In a press release, Tenorio said Madflex Fitness and Sports Club is a non-profit organization that aims to develop young talents, mold good habits, and attitudes, to become productive contributors of the community through health fitness and sports activities, education, and training while driving them away from influences of misdemeanors, smoking, alcohol, and drugs.
Tenorio, a humble father and a formidable basketball player himself, is passionate in health fitness and sports activities, started his club at his own backyard on Jan. 20, 2020 just before the pandemic, training his son Derek and a handful of young kids. His vision has produced a few strong candidates and members of the U16 NMI National Basketball team and with high confidence that these young talented kids will have great success in their chosen fields later in life.
The four Madflex teams were divided by their trainers and coaches. Madflex trainers and coaches, Michael Surima and Amor Zapata, are all local volunteers providing long hours of free training and mentorship, who in their own rights are locally established skilled players and accomplished coaches.
“We want to extend our gratitude to our sponsors: Our major sponsor Ali’i Inc., Robert Harrell and colleagues are very supportive of our goals and objectives and have been instrumental to our success. Also, we have support from the community, our secondary team sponsors, Blue Haus Inc., Hardt Eye Clinic, JTM Corp., and Win Pacific, who provided entrance fees, players uniforms, and other expenses. Other contributors are Legends Sports Association, Hybrid Shop, and RHF. Thank you also to our table officials and referees. Lastly, thank you Saipan Tribune for having us!”
