Krishnan conquers October tourney
Das Krishnan is the latest qualifier to the Fil-Taga Ace of Aces Tournament.
This, after the Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan Banquets and Events director topped the October tournament last Oct. 21 at the LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort.
The 67-year-old shot a net score of 72 to earn the win in the Fil-Taga October Ace of the Month Tournament.
He actually finished tied with Freddie Cataluna and Adony Matutino after 18 holes of golf, but edged them via scorecard tiebreak.
Krishnan, a 9-handicapper, scored a gross score of 81 built around a 42 in the front nine and a 39 in the back nine.
Cataluna, one of the best local golfers with a sublime 2 handicap, finished with a gross of 74 after a 38 in the first nine holes and an even-par 36 in the last nine.
Matutino carded a pre-handicap score of 88 after the 16-handicapper had a split of 42 and 46.
The 67-year-old Krishnan thanked Cataluna for correcting his mistakes during the October tourney.
“The weather was good and the golf course was in good condition. I had a bad start as usual but Freddie saw some mistakes so he polished me then the game came around.”
Aside from Cataluna, he also thanked Ruben Avendeno for “keeping me in the loop” on the tournaments of Fil-Taga.
With the win last October, Krishnan now joins Dan Ganacias (January), Hak Chon Bae (February), Tony Cabrera (March), Emil Padernal (April), Freddie Cataluna (May), Wil Maui (June), and Edgar Abalos (August) as early qualifiers for the season-ending Fil-Taga Ace of Aces Tournament.
