NMC opens NMC Health Simulation Center

The Northern Marianas College officially opened yesterday its NMC Health Simulation Center that will give their nursing and allied health students a chance to practice in lifelike scenarios and enhance the educational experience overall.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by several dignitaries that included Gov. Arnold I Palacios, was held at the college’s As Terlaje campus on Saipan, after which they were given a tour of the center, which boasts high-quality patient manikins in a simulated hospital room, equipped with a control room for the instructor.

In her remarks, Rosa Tudela, who chairs the Nursing Department at NMC, said this new center would transform the way they train their nurses and healthcare students.

“The NMC Health Simulation Center will help to ensure that our students are well-prepared to deliver high-quality care and respond effectively to the healthcare needs of our communities,” she added.

More than just a building, it’s a testament to the power of collaboration with the Hawaii Pacific Basin Area Health Education Center, said Erica Davis, MSNP, deputy director with the Hawaii Pacific Basin Area Health Education Center.

She said their partnership in this project exemplifies their commitment in the advancement of healthcare and education training, particularly in remote islands.

She thanked the NMC team for working many hours to make the transformation possible, from what the room was, which was a storage room, into the center it is today.

“The impact of your support will be felt in years to come as it empowers the next generation of healthcare professionals,” she said.
