Legislature now in last phase of implementing security enhancement plan

The Legislature is currently in the final stages of implementing the last phase of their security enhancement plan, according to Legislative Bureau director Perry John P. Tenorio last Wednesday.

In providing the Senate and House of Representatives with an update on the progress of the security enhancement plan, Tenorio said the last phase includes the installation of strategically positioned security cameras within the building.

He said upon the completion of this phase, the installation and upgrade of security cameras will be finalized, significantly enhancing the overall security posture of the premises.

Tenorio said inside the Senate and House chambers, a single camera will be placed to ensure comprehensive coverage.

He said given that their broadcasting cameras do not capture footage of the gallery, these additional security cameras will be exclusively dedicated to monitoring this area.

The director said this measure ensures that any incidents or concerns within the gallery will be accurately documented for future reference.

He said the lobbies and hallways will also be equipped with surveillance cameras to further bolster their security infrastructure.

Tenorio noted that these cameras are designed to operate passively and do not have the capability to capture or record audio.

He said their activation is triggered solely by motion detection, thereby respecting privacy while providing effective surveillance.
