A little goes a long way
An old man sits by the Kiosku Memorial or stands by the entrance of the post office asking for spare change. He explains he has no food. More importantly, he has no money for medicine for his crusted feet. He begs for water as he looks tired panhandling all day. My wife bought him the largest bottled water at Kevin’s Department Store. He thanks my wife and I and he was on his way.
Times before this, I would have given spare change whenever I can. I am not wealthy but I do what I can. If I don’t give him anything, I get this guilt feeling. Some say that it is not our obligation. I know it’s not but it does not hurt to do something good either. If you really don’t have anything to spare, just be honest and he’ll walk away. You could tell who really needs money or food. You know a drunk when you see one. The Salvation Army does wonders but they too can only do so much.
Please give this man what you can as he would probably do the same if he is in our shoes. Times in our economy are tough but I am sure you could spare something for him or someone else. Just wanted to share this story as I believe it is important for people to know that we all have a heart to help others. Do care, please spare.

Definitely a good thing. My brother gave me an advice a while back about the same issue above. He said give what you can. The good Lord’s eyes will be on the good deed you have done. The Lord will worry about the person receiving your kindly attention regardless of what he/she does with it.
Vince: It’s good to be compassionate but what I can’t fathom is how did these people afford travel expenses that translates into becoming public charges!
