Man with LV warrant arrested at Saipan airport
A man who is wanted in Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested by authorities at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport last Thursday, Saipan Tribune learned.
Attorney Joaquin Torres confirmed last night with Saipan Tribune that attorney Matthew Holley, a member of their law firm, represents the person, identified as Chungwei Xu.
Torres said he believes that Xu was released after the Las Vegas court quashed the warrant when money was wired from Hong Kong to Las Vegas to pay out his debt.
Torres said it is a civil matter and not a criminal case.
The lawyer said he has no information as to how Xu was arrested.
A document obtained by Saipan Tribune indicated that a Las Vegas judge issued a bail of $7,354,225 against Xu for non-sufficient funds/checks.
The Clark County District Attorney Bad Check Unit is handling the case.
The Torres law firm requested the Department of Corrections and Department of Public Safety commissioners last Thursday to place Xu on house arrest pending the final decision of the Clark County District Attorney’s Office regarding possible extradition.
Xu apparently has several medical conditions that require special care and close monitoring by proper caretakers.
A Best Sunshine agent has agreed to pay all fees associated with Xu’s house arrest.
As of press time, Saipan Tribune was still trying to get comments from Holley.
“… and bail was set at $ 7 , 354 , 225 , according to the documents”
So just what is this bail amount? Is it, Seven million, three hundred fifty four thousand, two hundred twenty four dollars? OR is those numbers the amounts of the NSF checks with no bail amount stated??
So this looks and seems like another IPI (Best Sunshine) employee, does he have a CW permit? Good thing the Feds caught this as locally he would not have.
Who is the Best Sunshine agent? Why will they pay for the fees? Something is fishy!
