Native-born rights

This piece is about how I think the U.S. democracy is being turned into more of a communist government. The reason why I say this is because of the long distance relationship the CNMI and USA have.

If I am not mistaken, the forefathers of the Declaration of Independence had a vision of independence, democracy, and liberty. I mean they stood up and told King George and his cronies that enough is enough. How could a bunch of colonies be controlled by a tyrannical king a thousand miles away? It behooves me to say this but I think the present U.S. government is oppressing and discriminating like King George and his cronies, or worse yet King Obama and his cronies. I do love the U.S. democracy but not the present individuals who are in it now.

So for me, I would like to call on the present legislators to maybe revisit the Covenant and maybe amend or discard it. I think that a new Covenant should be put together to address the issue above. They should include in bold text the vision of the forefathers and also emphasize the preservation of our unique identity as people of the CNMI islands.

I am for total independence but most would not agree. But on the other hand a workable independence might be an alternative, like maybe form an alliance that the U.S. can count on when needed. I mean, look at our population number.

  1. Buenas Luciano,

We could not comprehend why would you want independence from the United States? Based on your letter, you are residing in Washington and calling our president “King Obama.” You are one of the benefactors of our political union with the United States and you are maximizing the benefits and perks that come with it. What make you think that the United States of America would allow us to break away from them? China is knocking on our doors or is on the block to be reckon with and you are calling foul play. Maybe your “King Obama” or our president see something that we don’t see in relation to our national security. Appreciate that we are afforded the privileges and opportunities of being related to Uncle Sam, because you and I got it made on our earthly world. Thousand of souls from other countries had disappeared into the tin air trying to imitate or achieve what we had been given to us in a silver platter.

Also, refrain from using the word independence loosely in relation with our status with the United States, because it has to do with the national security of the United States and it has been known that Uncle Sam would protect it at all cost. Just saying.

    Si Yu’us Ma’ase.

  2. Buenas Captain,

It is sad to say that our people don’t understand that many individuals died trying to achieve the American dream. We are very fortunate to be afforded the perks of being United States Citizens. It reminds of being deployed to a third world country and the suffering would make an individual not take for granted of being an American.
