Open letter to our governor
Dear Mr. Governor: My congratulations on your taking the office and best wishes in serving our people!
My daughter, Carmelita Guiao, who was in a love-hate relationship with her long-time lover, hit him with a hot pan and was sent to prison for 23 years. Her lover forgave her long ago and asked for relief at the court hearing. While serving her sentence, she got sexually harassed but no action was taken against the harasser despite of my requests to the authorities to investigate.
I am just an old father having no knowledge in legal matters. My heart aches so much for her! I cannot help her but I am asking you to pardon her, a mother of five, please! Could you set her free and have her placed under my responsibility, giving her a chance to open a new chapter in her life? She has already served three-plus years and has learned her lessons hard way. I know my daughter, after what she has been through she will never violate the law again. May God bless you!
