Thank you!

Please allow me a few lines to say thank you to all the people who attended the launching of our new book, Tinian and The Bomb, on Saipan, Tinian, and Guam.

Researching and writing the history of the Marianas became my passion shortly after I arrived on the islands some 40 years ago. However, I would not have had the courage to publish it without the support and confidence of many, many friends.

Some people ask me why I do it. I am kind of like a chef who finally takes a break from the kitchen to visit with customers and finds them happy. When I am stopped by a complete stranger in a grocery store, at the beach, or along a road somewhere on Saipan, Tinian, or Guam and receive a smile and a handshake, it makes my day and justifies all those long nights and weekends in my cave pounding away on this machine. That’s plenty payback for me, but we do appreciate people buying books so we can pay back Bank of Guam!

Special thanks are due to the people who have helped me enjoy my hobby: The Northern Marianas Humanities Council, UOG Press, Pacific History Parks, the foundation that manages the visitors’ centers at American Memorial Park on Saipan and War in the Pacific Park in Guam, Bestseller Books, and my good friends from the media.

Thanks again to all.
