HAGATNA, Guam—U.S. Marine Corps leadership led by Col. Brent Bien met yesterday morning with Sen. Tina Muna Barnes, the speaker of the 35th Guam Legislature, at the Guam Congress building.
The meeting provided an update to the speaker in her role as the Guam buildup chair and Sen. Regine Biscoe Lee, chair of the Committee on Federal and Foreign Affairs.
The meeting—done at the invitation of Barnes—provided an opportunity for both sides to engage in open dialogue to further understand the ongoing development of the future Marine Corps Base, Camp Blaz, and the relocation of Marines to Guam.
It is customary for military leadership on island to meet newly elected officials. In a statement issued by the Guam Legislature, it said that U.S. Marine Corps Activity Guam “looks forward to future meetings and an active partnership with Guam’s elected leaders.” (PR)
