Survivors, caregivers support meeting on May 30

Voter registration today at Fiesta
The Commonwealth Election Commission will hold a voter registration drive at the Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan, Azucena Room today, May 25, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Be sure to bring a copy of your birth certificate certified by the court, a valid U.S. passport, or naturalization documents to show proof of your citizenship.

A person is eligible to vote who, on Nov. 6, 2018, is 18 years of age or older, is domiciled in the Commonwealth, has resided in the Commonwealth for 120 days prior to the day of the election, is not serving a sentence for a felony conviction, has not been declared by a court to be judicially insane, and is either a citizen or national of the United States as defined in the Northern Mariana Islands Constitution.

Previously registered voters who have failed to vote in the 2014 and 2016 general election must re-register to be eligible to vote in the 2018 regular general election.

CHamoru commission meeting in Guam
The Kumisión i Fino’ CHamoru yan i Fina’nå’guen i Historia yan i Lina’la’ Taotao Tåno’ (Commission on CHamoru Language and the Teaching of History and Culture of the Indigenous People of Guam) will hold its monthly meetings on June 7 and 21 and July 5 and 19, 2018 from 12:30pm to 3pm at the Division of Humanities conference room, University of Guam. The agenda items include approval of Minutes, committee reports, office space, financial matters, responses to communications received, CHamoru orthography revisions and printing, and progress of Strategic Planning and Implementation activities. Additionally, there will be work sessions on June 14 and 28 and July 12 and 26, from 12:30pm to 3pm at the same venue.

Call for submissions: Memorial Day tribute
Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) invites veterans, service members, military family members, and members of the community to participate in a special Memorial Day video tribute honoring the men and women who have died while serving in the nation’s armed forces, as well as those who passed away after service. Photographs, videos, and visual artwork rare welcome. Submissions will be accepted up to May 23, and should include the names, dates of birth and death, branch of service, rank, unit, any operation or conflict served, as well as a brief message of remembrance, up to 75 words. Nominees sought for MINA’s Green Awards
The Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance is seeking nominations for this year’s Green Award for presentation at the annual Green Gala event slated for Sept. 14, 2018. The deadline for submission of nominees is June 1, 2018. Awards are given in the following categories, and nominations will be accepted from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota: Environmental Champion Award, Environmental Heroes Award, and Green Business of the Year.
