Seeking volunteers for language project
Anyone who can speak Chamorro, Carolinian, Palauan, Chukeese, Korsrae, Pohnpeian, Karibati, Yapese, and Marshalese, contact the Northern Marianas Humanities Council at 235-4785. Dr. Thomas Stolz, a professor of University of Bremen in Germany, will be visiting Saipan from July 20 to July 31. He would like to conduct interviews with native speakers. Survivors, caregivers support meeting
All people facing cancer, their family members, and caregivers are invited to the Commonwealth Cancer Association support meeting on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, starting at 5:30pm at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Chamolinian Room. Ortizo on university dean’s list
Michael Roy Ortizo has been named to the University of Delaware’s dean’s list for the spring semester. To meet eligibility requirements for the dean’s list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester. (PR)

NMDC meeting set
The Northern Marianas Descent Corp. will be holding a general membership meeting tomorrow, June 19, 2018, at the Carolinian Utt. The meeting will begin promptly at 6pm and the topic for discussion will be on Senate Bill 20-35 which is to amend 1 CMC subsection 2806(c) to increase the term of public land leases up to 40 years plus an extension up to 35 years for a total 75 years; to authorize existing public land leases to be amended to extend the existing lease term up to 75 years; and for other purposes. (PR)

Military training at former golf course
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at the former Adm. Nimitz Golf Course in Barrigada on June 18, from 5pm to 11pm. This training is designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. The public should be advised that routine helicopter training often accompanied with the use of blanks can occur throughout the week in areas of the former golf course and Andersen South. (PR)
