JKPL to host 7th Trunk-or-Treat
The 7th Annual Halloween Trunk-Or-Treat is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library parking lot in Susupe. Scheduled power outages
There will be power interruptions on the following dates, times and locations:
• Saturday, Oct. 6, 5am to 10am affecting the Chalan Monsignor Guerrero in Dandan. Traffic lights at the intersections of Dandan to Airport Road, Dandan to As Lito and Dandan to Fina Sisu will be affected. No water well or wastewater lift station will be affected.
• Sunday, Oct. 7, from 5am to 10am, affecting the Chalan Pale Arnold in Puerto Rico. No traffic light intersection or water well will be affected but the wastewater lift stations in Lower Sadog Tasi and Lower Navy Hill will be affected.
• Monday, Oct. 8, from 5am to 10am, affecting Chalan Pale Arnold in Lower Navy Hill. The Lower Navy Hill traffic light intersection and Calhoun water well will be affected. The Lower Sadog Tasi and Lower Navy Hill wastewater lift stations will be affected.
These will allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. linemen to replace wooden poles with concrete ones. (PR)
‘Our Sense of Place’ forum today
“Our Sense of Place,” a forum for Precinct 2 candidates that will be hosted by independent House candidate Christina Sablan, is set for today, Oct. 4, at the Joeten Daidai Social Hall next to Mt. Carmel Cathedral, starting at 5:30pm. Members of the community are invited to share ideas on how to make Precinct 2 a better place to live, work, visit, and play. Precinct 2 includes Chalan Kanoa, Susupe, Fina Sisu, As Lito, and As Perdido. The forum is free and all are welcome. SINMI accepting applications for award
The Soroptimist International of the Northern Mariana Islands is now accepting applications for our annual Live Your Dream award. The completed application and two reference forms must be submitted before Oct. 10, 2018, for consideration in the judging process. For digital copies of both forms, email pbrown52@gmail.com.
These annual awards are given to women who are attending college or vocational training and who are the primary financial support for their family. A list of other requirements will be provided. The award money can be spent on whatever a recipient chooses.

Military training at FDM, W-11AB
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla today, Oct. 5, from 11am to 11pm. It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island. (PR)
FOA’s Night at the Movies returns
The Friends of the Arts is bringing back its outdoor movie night at the Navy Hill baseball field, starting with the family movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, this Friday, Oct. 5.
Bring chairs or blankets, relax, and enjoy a night at the movies. Viewers can bring their own food or purchase drinks and snacks from the Marianas High School Theater Club. The movie lasts two hours and is rated PG-13 for its action content.
This production will be held on just one night, Oct. 5 at 7:30pm. If it rains on Oct. 5, the movie will be shown on the next night, Oct. 6. Tickets can be purchased at the show at $3 for children and students 4-11 years in age and $5 for adults and students over 11. (PR)
