Clarification
The front-page report of the first landing at North Field since 1947 is in error. At least 10 years ago while visiting the bomb pits I drove onto one of the runways and a C-130 almost touched down on my car. It was landing to pick up the remaining personnel of a military exercise that had just finished. A very irate person in uniform threatened to lock me up when I suggested that he might want to tighten up access to an active runway. It was certainly memorable for me!
