Konfitma 2012 Exercise

Are local emergency responders prepared to deal with hazardous materials released during a terrorist-style attack in the CNMI?

The U.S. Army Pacific Weapons of Mass Destruction-Civil Support Team/CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package Training and Readiness Division, in coordination with the CNMI Office of Homeland Security and the Emergency Management Office, will be holding full-scale exercise called “Konfitma” in support of CNMI responders and 94th, 93rd, 92nd, and joint CST training exercise.

The exercise is scheduled on July 17-18 in several locations throughout Saipan and Tinian.

The purpose of Kofitma is to conduct a 36-hour all-hazard situational training exercise in order to create conditions to reinforce interoperability among local, state, federal, military, and private stakeholders. This purpose will serve as an interagency, multi-CST STX in the CNMI to maintain operational response procedures during an incident of national significance.

For more information call CNMI Emergency Operations Center dispatch at 237-8000, Homeland Security Office at 664-2216 or 911.

The community is reminded that this is an exercise and not to be alarmed. (PR)
