High surf advisory
Northeast swell from mainly gentle winds and isolated thunderstorms are expected the next few days as a monsoon trough settles into the region. Combined seas of 9 to 10 feet will diminish to about 6 to 7 feet today, Friday.

A high surf advisory in effect until 6am today for east facing reefs and north facing reefs. Expect hazardous surf of 10 to 12 feet along north and east facing reefs. Surf will fall below hazardous levels along east facing reefs but remain hazardous at 7 to 9 feet along north facing reefs.

The public is being advised to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches, especially those facing north and east as rip currents will be life threatening. Waves will be hazardous for operators of small craft. Avoid shoaling areas, where long period swell can sharpen into large breaking waves. Breaking waves can easily capsize even larger vessels.
