On Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, thousands of eligible voters throughout our Commonwealth, including our residents off-island, exercised their right to vote. On Nov. 9, 2016, their act of civic duty resulted in electing predominantly Republican candidates to both houses of the Commonwealth Legislature. On behalf of Tricia A. Manglona, Thomas Lee A. Manglona [on] Rota, and Aaron J. Murdock in election Precinct 4, we are forever grateful for your trust and confidence.
No matter what our opinions regarding the electorate’s choices of candidates, they have spoken and we must accept their decisions and honor their intent. This is the bedrock of our representative democracy.
To the members of the Republican Party, both local and national, you have reason to celebrate. Yours is the thrill of victory, and the awesome responsibility of the public’s trust is yours.
On behalf of the Central Executive Committee members of the Democratic Party of the Northern Marianas, I extend our heartiest congratulations to all our elected leaders, both partisan and non-partisan on a hard fought campaign and on your successful election. Today, you are the chosen ones!
