The CNMI Veterans Memorial Cemetery is the resting place of our veterans who served our nation and deserve respect. The present condition, with weeds growing wildly, is a reflection of total disregard and violation of the agreement to keep the place clean.
Who is responsible to keep the area clean? Are the offices responsible to keep our sacred grounds clean provided with sufficient funding? If the answer is no, why not? How much does it costs to keep it clean?
Fellow veterans and families, speak out and demand respect.

  1. This article makes it sound as if the people buried in the Chalan Kanoa cemetery were less human in life than the veterans. In my opinion, if the federal government really cared about their veterans, they should be the ones to handle the upkeeps of the cemetery.

  2. Come on Sam…. VA cemetery on the island was funded via “Veterans Cemetery Grant Program.” And part of the grant stipulation is “Any cemetery assisted by a VA grant must be maintained and operated according to the operational standards and measures of the National Cemetery Administration” and is ” The administration, operation, and maintenance of a VA-supported Veterans cemetery is solely the responsibility of the state, territory or tribal government.” So your barking at the wrong “HILL” per say… As for those buried in CK, my brother is buried there but that don’t mean I don’t care…. Ai’ jesus!…
