Enough already!

Enough is enough of negative writings, statements, and interviews about the granting of improved immigration status for all the nonresident workers here in the CNMI.

Once upon a time in our Commonwealth’s history, the federal government granted us the exclusive authority to control our borders and immigration affairs. But we failed to study hard and, even more, we failed to turn in our homework on time. Since then the time down the road has changed almost completely because we have failed to foresee far away in the horizon that something in motion has already been moving and heading to our self-destruction. Today, the time has come against us like a strong current pushing us off the land floating in the water, and those floating ones in the water for months and years have come for their turn to land on land and get a breather.

Yes, the divided towns in the CNMI are crying out loud that the indigenous local population could become a minority in the future. Whether the future will dictate what will happen and what will not happen, the bottom line is that what we have been fearful and that which we have failed to do since the beginning has caught us all off-guard in defenselessness and speechlessness.

Whether one likes it or not the door of granting improved immigration status to the nonresident workers here in the CNMI will happen under the watches of President Obama, U.S. Congress, and Congressman Kilili.

Speaking of Congressman Kilili, he will win again and return to Washington, D.C. for another two years. Congressman Kilili is already there and has already been there, so why change him? Why fix a problem when there’s no problem? Congressman Kilili’s problems are our problems that we give him to fix for the future of our CNMI. So vote him again for the protection of all people across the lands here in the CNMI

  1. So, in your opinion, it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay tooooooooooooo late to fix things, and we should just lay down our axes and quit chopping trees that are actually tall weeds poisoning our forest?

Everything has caught up with us through neglect and/or tunnel vision infestation, yes. However, it does not mean that we should continue supporting those who are not thinking well into the future or do not listen to oppositions and seek ways to strike a balance that everyone may and can live with.

We should encourage salvaging what little is left, and if that means absorbing some immigrants to continue on then so be it. However, it does not mean that we should open the flood gate to our own annihilation.

So, the Chamorro and Carolinian are not purely who they are as their blood is mixed with Spanish, Portuguese, Filipino, Japanese, White, Black, etc. However, they, mixed as they are, have been on these islands for centuries and no matter how diluted their blood may be in the future, they are still descendants of Northern Marianas!

Vote for Kilili, if that is what you wish, but please do remind him that there are people on these islands who disagree with his policies and perhaps he should at least try to listen, even for the pure sake of humoring their delusions, if he does not care to go all out and convince them otherwise!

    1. “However, it does not mean that we should open the flood gate to our own annihilation.”

Ai Juanita my dearest childhood neighbor. Remember the homestead and agriculture program? Maybe your families were the most qualified diluted CNMI Descent in our island chain for the perks of our government.

So our way of thinking are all but tunnel visions. Remember that you used to tutor my kind in your days in Texas and California, but still we can’t write proper Englishy. We no speaky no englishy in the CNMI, but we do have voices too? You may think you’re super smart, but we super needing helping from dearest uncle, wait, wait, it start with an a or s. Uhm, yep, uncle Benjamin Franklin. Nope, uncle dearest Samuel. Nope Uncle #h&l$.

You think you speak for us as CNMI Descent, but you don’t have a clue on what is happening to the silent majority of our people. Do you think the CNMI Government had afforded us a homestead in our so call island? Nope, because people like you think you own our island chain and people like us has no jurisdiction on the matter. Get a hold of reality Ms. Mendiola, because this is the era of 2014. We may speaky broken englishiiing, but our mind is not for you to tinker with.

Your educational process came with a price my dearest neighbor and so be it if we have to give up your monopoly in our local government. You remind us of the rednecks we encounter in Brownfield yesterday, they think the same as you, they think that we should go back or swim back to Mexico “Wet Backs” and they are superior than us, because were are different from them. Get a life lady.

      1. Yes, you are clueless.

Maybe we should sit down and discuss what is affecting our people in the CNMI. Maybe you should hear our side of our stories and we should come up with solutions to better our community. Either you like it or not, we do exist and we are here to claim our rights in Tinian and we are progressing forward each day.

        1. “After I did several researched on what he had to say to me that day, his allegations were true. I was being use as a bait for someone’s cause or your cause and I should had known better.
Stay away from issues affecting the United States National Security.”

(Thank you Tribune for being more responsive)

I suppose I should be thanking you for the warning? Little ME? I am nothing but an invisible dot on the map – I think even google map does not notice me…LOL! But thank you for sharing, and next time do not bait…LOL!

  2. Jun, I am clueless.

Perhaps I need to be tutored more, because I have not any idea what you just tried to say.

Who are you? If you were born here and you are not of Northern Marianas descent, then I am sorry darling “neighbor”, but you CANNOT own land! I did not decide that, but I will uphold it in whatever manner I can!

This is not about being a bigot or racist, it is territorial and preservation of a nation of people who had been raped through colonialism for centuries. Accepting history is quite different from trying to preserve the little of who you are!

Get a life of your own from wherever you came from. Do not come onto my islands and tell me that you deserve more than what WE CAN give you!

You call yourself a “wetback”? Then get this through your thick watered head – I am no different from you except you are trying to make a claim on something that was never yours! You can easily go anywhere in this world to get what you think you have earned, but you CANNOT claim anything that you COULD NEVER have to begin with.

Sure, take our local government and amend the constitution! But, you WILL NOT and CANNOT change the COVENANT! And, that my dear “neighbor” is where we will be meeting!

    1. “Get a life of your own from wherever you came from. Do not come onto my islands and tell me that you deserve more than what WE CAN give you!”

Yes, Juanita it is your island alone, Remember your buddies Manny and Debrah who said we were not from Tinian and we deserved no homestead. Each day you wake up in Tinian at your late parents house you look at my property next door. Your kind deserved all the properties from our local government and our kind needs to purchase via private CNMI Descent. It was a blessing in disguised for us wannabe CNMI Descent who were oppressed by your kind, for we amassed thousands of square meters of properties throughout your so call island chain.

FYI, we were born in the CNMI and grew up in Tinian. How do you justify that we are not CNMI descent? Even if you do not respect us as wannabe CNMI descent, but for sure you have to respect us as United States Citizens in your so call island chain. We have every right to support or go against your anti immigrant mentality.

“Our Covenant,” if you claim that you are super smart, you should understand that we the people of the CNMI had sold our souls to the devil himself. There is no way you can undo the CNMI Covenant with the United States of America. We are dealing with the strongest nation on earth and our island chain is one of the strategic place for them to protect their national security.

If you want to tinker of breaking away from the United States, you will be dealing with their special ops or their under world group or group. Remember Mr. Santos, Mr. Quitano as the man (Chamorro who worked for the feds) described it to me during our lay over in Hawaii, you may help our people in many ways but stay away from the National Security of the United States, because you are playing with fire. My attitude like yours change over night after meeting with the Chamorro individual who knows everything about me and I don’t know that he existed in this earth. I had to cancel my United Nation trip to Europe representing the indigenous Chamorro in the CNMI last summer due to adviced of the mysterious Chamorro man in Hawaii or my flight from the CNMI to the United States.

Take care our bisinu and we do have a say so on what is happening in our island chain also. I thought that we should both have the same mentality, for we both migrated to the United States and educated ourselves and we deal with different ethnicities during those times.

  3. Ai Juanita, read up the qualifications for who are entitle to claim themselves as Northern Mariana Descent. I am a Chamorro and I speak my mind on issues affecting my family and our people. Why do you think I was pick out of the thousands Chamorro in the CNMI to represent the Indigenous Chamorro at the United Nation in Europe last Summer? I was pick to
represent Indigenous Chamorro in the CNMI, because I speak my mind on issues affecting us.

But remember the mysterious Chamorro man I met during my flight from the CNMI to the United States. After thinking what he had said to me, I rather do something constructive for our people than be targeted by the group.

According to the man, once you are in their radar there is no turning back. I had served in several branches of the United States Military and I had seen clandestine operations and he was right on the money.

After I did several researched on what he had to say to me that day, his allegations were true. I was being use as a bait for someone’s cause or your cause and I should had known better.
Stay away from issues affecting the United States National Security.
