Not getting my point

I read some of the comments in response to my letter and I came away with a conclusion that some of them did not get the point I was trying to make. I watch the “World News” daily on my laptop. There is turmoil in different parts of the world. The one that concerns me most is North Korea. I urge your readers to access “North Korea.”

I was trying to send a message to your readers wherein in part I stated that; “We must be prepared to use whatever it takes to protect ourselves and our “motherland.” “Guam has various military bases as their contribution to defend our freedom. We also benefit from the generosity of Guam. We must also be willing to contribute and accommodate the strategic need for our own security”.

In reading the responses against my letter, I get the impression that they did not fully get the point I was trying to make. We must also be willing to contribute and accommodate the strategic need for our own security.

Other than the leasehold property on Tinian, what have we done to show the Defense Department that we recognize the sacrifice our men and women in uniform are enduring. WE SHOULD AT LEAST SAY, THANK YOU. Above all, let’s begin by thanking our own native sons and daughters in uniform by showing our appreciation—SI YUUS MAASE… Thank You. Is it too much to ask?

“Guam has various military bases as their contribution to defend our freedom.”

Guam has bases because it is good and positive for their economy. We on the other hand are being spruced up as sacrificial lambs to take on the “arse” end of this “defense” plan. So no thanks.

“We must also be willing to contribute and accommodate the strategic need for our own security”.”

Bases on Guam covers the security of entire Marianas to include other areas of the Pacific. We are contributing by providing Tinian and FDM to include the services of our men and women and sacrifices also of you and our parents from WWII.

Again, FDM we “sacrificed” for bombing Tun David. We (CNMI) have 14 islands, very small and for the most part can fit if not all, then over half into Guam. How much more you want to sacrifice?

This I will tell you. I’m also a Veteran so please don’t feel that you need to offer as a reason that to recognize my /service/sacrifices by advocating that folks must sacrifice to thank me. I am a Veteran cause I chose to sign up, volunteered to serve, got compensated for it and will do it all over again. Don’t use me as a reasoning for your misguided opinion. Thank you but no thank you. Esta ki.
