The sweet thing about our island chain is we all have the opportunity to retain or vote out a sitting judge every now and then. If you strongly feel that something needs to be done, you should exercise your rights to vote and the first thing you should do is mark no to retain the Honorable Judge Govendo. We had been tide lipfor many months and this is the time to open up what is affecting us as a society.
What really bothers us, is that when a judge goes on our media and meddle with politics. In our eyes judges should be neutral and should not interfere with anything dealing with politics. Over the years we had supported Judge Govendo’s retention bid for his seat, but what really trigger us not to support his retention this year is when he used his position to discredit a nominee for judge. If he only stand aside and did not interfere with the process, we will be supporting him again this coming election.
The honorable Judge Govendo is a good man, we had deal with him in his court room in the past and he had demonstrated to us that he can do his job as a judge. He granted us an early hearing on our case and he expedited the process.
It is us voters who decide if the judge is going to be retain and you can make a different by voting no to retain him.
