Upsetting news
We, the parents of Allan James Boyer Dela Cruz, who recently passed away, read about what happened to our son in the Saipan Tribune as we were halfway between a city in the U.S. mainland and Tokyo, and we were really surprised and upset.
As grieving parents of Allan James, we and our families are suffering, and we should have been notified up front about the specifics of this investigation before it was published.
Furthermore, it was reported that Bernie Dela Cruz is a former Veterans Affairs director; she wasn’t. She was a Veterans Affairs “acting director” for several months, but insisted on not taking the position.
And to add another unnecessary news, the story about our son, who cannot speak or defend himself, cited a dropped-case of domestic violence.
P.S.: According to my wife, Bernie Boyer Dela Cruz, there’s no such title as Veterans Affairs director; it should be Veterans Affairs executive officer, and Bernie was the Veterans Affairs acting executive officer for several months.

Saipan Tribune always makes it a practice to add completely unrelated details to all their articles.
A heartfelt condolences to the Parents and Families of the late Allan, may he Rest In Peace. It is with great sadness and pain to hear that a loved one close to you had passed. Most especially to hear it from via the media.
