Saipan municipal council session on Thursday

The 7th Regular Session of the 16th Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council that was scheduled for May 28, 2021, has been rescheduled for Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 10am at the Saipan and Northern Mariana Islands Municipal Council office at the Kiosku, Chalan Kanoa, Saipan. (PR)

Scheduled power service interruptions today

There will be two scheduled power service interruptions today, June 1, 2021, as follows:
8:30am to 12:30pm – Garapan

■ Distribution Circuit: Feeder 2
■ Areas Affected: Partial areas of Micro Beach Road
■ Water Well Affected: None
■ Wastewater Facility Affected: None
■ Purpose: To relocate primary and secondary power lines to allow the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s contractor, GPPC Inc., to safely work on the renovation project for the S-5 lift station in Garapan

9am to 1pm — Capital Hill
■ Distribution Circuit: Feeder 4
■ Areas Affected: Guguan Dr., Tano Ct., Pajaron Lp., Managaha P1., Farallon P1., partial of Chalan Savana, Marianas Ln., Kantit Ln., and Sariguan Dr.
■ Water Well Affected: None
■ Wastewater Facility Affected: None
■ Purpose: To replace rusted power pole hardware on 10 primary power poles along Guguan Dr.

BECQ cleanup at LaoLao Bay Beach on Saturday

In honor of CNMI Ocean Month, the Bureau of Environmental & Coastal Quality will be hosting a cleanup at LaoLao Bay Beach from 8:30am to 10:30am on Saturday, June 5, 2021.

If you would like to volunteer, meet the BECQ representatives on Saturday at the LaoLao Bay Beach parking lot at 8:30am. Volunteers will split into groups and clean until 10:30am.

Cleanup supplies such as gloves, trash bags, and hand sanitizers will be provided. Trash hauling and disposal will be taken care of by BECQ. Water will be provided; just bring your reusable water bottles.

4.9-magnitude quake in Guam

At 2:02am on May 30, 2021, a report of a 4.9-magnitude earthquake occurred 92 kilometers north of Merizo, Guam. Currently, no Tsunami warnings or advisories are issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. For more information, contact the CNMI EOC State Warning Point at 237-8000. (PR)
