DEQ environment video
The Division of Environmental Quality has produced a 15-minute video entitled Our Choice, Our Islands’ Hope. According to DEQ director Ike Cabrera, the video shows the environmental problems facing the CNMI– from littering to more complex problems such as nonpoint source pollution.
DEQ was assisted by Eclipse Vide Production. Famous local singer Kelvin Atalig provided the background music.
The unique and fragile environments of Saipan, Tinian and Rota are being affected by development, reckless disposal of solid waste and misuse of products such as pesticides and fertilizers. This program shows various ways in which everyone can help solve the pollution problem. Cabrera said the video will be distributed to various schools.
Health inspections
The Bureau of Environmental Health conducted health and sanitation inspections during June 6-June 12, 1999 on the following eating and drinking establishments and their grades are as follows:
