A five-room structure in Chinatown suffered extensive damages after it was struck by fire yesterday morning.

Police are yet to determine the cause of the incident, although authorities believe it may have been perpetrated by an arson, or a product of negligence, or faulty wiring.

The broken-down edifice at Morgen Heights in Garapan served as barracks for some 12 non-resident workers.

The house occupants were reportedly not injured although the American Red Cross stood by in case they needed assistance.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes said the fire also wreaked havoc on a common power utility source used by neighboring houses within the village. (MM)
