Demapan is SGA Ace for July

Joe Demapan carded a net score of 69 to win the Saipan Golfers Association July Ace of the Month Tournament held last Sunday.
Demapan shot a 39 in the front and 40 in the back for a gross score of 79, which minus his 10 handicap, gave him the score to beat at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
Ben Aldan finished tied with Demapan after also shooting a 69, but had to settle for second place after losing in a tiebreak. The 16-handicap Aldan fired a 43 in the front and 42 in the back for a gross of 85.
John Cepeda came in third with a net score of 72 following a 45 in the front and 42 in the back, which gave him a pre-handicap total of 87.
In the closest to the pin competition, Frances Salas won hole No. 6, Ed Manibusan ruled holes No. 8 and 15, while John Guerrero was superb on hole No. 12. The longest drives went to Tony Benavente on hole No. 2 and Rick Kautz on hole No. 16.
A total of 30 players showed up to play for the SGA July Ace.
The local golf club is inviting members for a best ball-type tournament this Sunday, July 31, at the LaoLao Bay Golf Resort west course. Tee time is set at 9:15am but participants are requested to check in 30 minutes before.
