The Coastal Resources Management Office will have its own office on Tinian to monitor compliance and enforcement of the agency’s rules and regulations.

The office is scheduled to begin operation today, according to CRM Diector Felipe Atalig, who emphasized that this is the first time a CRM office was established on the island after 10 years.

“One of my priorities when I took office is to place a CRM office on Tinian because there are also violations being committed by several companies there. The function of the new office is to enforce all regulations and see to it that businesses comply with it,” Atalig said.

The director said he brought the idea to the Tinian delegation who immediately supported it.

He added that businesses that would like to apply for minor permits need not go to Saipan because the new office will handle it.

“CRM is now functioning in full swing and is doing what is expected of the office,” Atalig said.

Meanwhile, with the opening of the new office, chances are jet ski permits will also be issued to operators on the island.

Atalig said the idea was endorsed by the agency but the license will be limited to two.

CRM has one pending application from Tinian for jet ski operation.
