The Sinapalu Elementary School on Rota will be turned over to the Public School System following the completion of documents for its official transfer.

Board of Education Member Marja Lee Taitano said Mayor Benjamin Manglona has expressed willingness to hand over the Sinapalu school to PSS.

The mayor has requested for their respective legal counsels to prepare the transfer of ownership document before the school opens next year.

Taitano met with Manglona this month to settle the issue over the ownership of the school. The Board was inquiring about the ownership of the school since it was the mayor’s office which started the project. However, PSS will finance the remaining construction work of the school which was estimated at $900,000 using the 702 money.

According to the latest PSS-CIP report, an invitation to bid for contractors to complete the school is scheduled to come out as soon as the 702 money becomes available. PSS is still negotiating its $16 million loan which will be used to match the 702 funding.

Meanwhile, members of the legislature and PSS officials visited the DanDan School yesterday afternoon. Its classrooms are finished but workers are still paving the campus and completing the administration office.

The DanDan school will have its opening next Thursday and will accommodate students coming from that area to help ease the congestion at San Vicente School. One track of San Vicente’s multi-track system will move on to DanDan this April.
