Violin performance at the Museum
The June musical salon sponsored by the Friends of the Arts will feature Deborah Fisher with performance of classical violin music on Sunday, June 13 in the rotunda of the Commonwealth Museum.
Held every second Sunday of the month at the museum, the FOA takes pride in sponsoring informal afternoons featuring professional and amateur musical talents from the pool of residents on Saipan and visitors. The salons are open to the public and take place inside the museum from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
There is no admission fee for members of the Friends of the Arts and Friends of the Museum. Admission fee for non-members is $3.00 and $1.00 for students. Children under 12 years old and adults over 54 years old are admitted free.

Deadline for EQIP grants
The deadline for applicants to sign up for the United States Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service, 1996 Farm Bill, Environmental Quality Incentives Program is June 11, 1999.
This program provides cost-sharing dollars through Credit Corporation to address major resources concerns and priorities identified as problems through local working groups.
There are two USDA-NCRS EQIP programs in the CNMI to which applicants can sign up for. These are the Kagman Irrigation Project, which is designed to provide efficient agricultural irrigation systems to farmers located in the Kagman watershed on Saipan. The other program is for proper control of animal waste through collections, treatment, storage and waste utilization for confined animal operations for the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Those who are interested in receiving federal cost-share assistance should contact the Saipan & Northern Islands Soil Water Conservation District at 233-0650 or NCRS at 233-3415 for further information.
Applicants must have control of the land for the life of the contract, minimum of five years, to qualify. Previous applicants who have signed up earlier this year, and 1998 applicants as well, should contact the NCRS office to verify that they have filled out all of the proper forms and received all of the pertinent information
concerning EQIP.
SHRM meeting
The CNMI chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management, an organization of professionals and personnel, will be holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, June 11 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
David Tuohey-Mote, Chronic Disease Control Program manager of the Department of Public Safety, will discuss wellness in the work place and how a variety of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer and depression can adversely affect productivity, as well as steps to take in order to address these problems.
Chapter membership meetings are not limited to members. Prospective members and companies or individuals are interested in the discussion topic are invited to attend.
This week’s meeting will be held at the Giovanni’s Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Hotel beginning 11:30 AM. The cost for the luncheon is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for non-members.
