Relay for Life

An exciting event is coming up on August 27, 1999. It is the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, a nationwide signature event.

The newly established American Cancer Society NMI Presence Unit is coordinating the event with the support of First Lady Sofie Tenorio as the honorary chairwoman and assisted by Attorney Robert T. Torres as chairman.

The Relay For Life is not just a fund-raiser, but a community – developed and volunteer-driven event. It is a unique activity that offers an opportunity to everyone to participate in the fight against cancer.

This event is about teams of friends and relatives getting together and for 14 hours, take turns on the track, running, jogging, walking or strolling in a fun and fitness event for a common goal: the fight against cancer. It is not a race, and there is no finish line. Speed, distance, or stamina do not count. Teamwork counts and it takes one person to bring a team together.

Help build a team and spend time to experience this first annual event.

Register now by calling Attorney Bob Torres at 234-6215 or Bobbie Grizzard at 483-9464 for more details.
