Victory Lap for
cancer survivors

The American Cancer Society NMI Presence Unit is calling all cancer survivors on the islands to participate in the opening of the 1999 Relay for Life by walking the first lap together on Aug. 27, 1999 at the Susupe Track and Field.

The Relay for Life, a nationwide signature campaign presented by the Freddy V. Hofschneider Foundation, kicks off at 6:o0 PM with invocation and songs. A reception follows for survivors who will take part in the Victory Lap.

Cancer survivors are requested to contact Pres Dela Cruz at 234-6981 for other details.

According to organizers of the Relay for Life, the 14-hour event is not just a fund-raiser, but an opportunity for everyone to participate in the fight against cancer. (See invitation and application forms on Page 12)

The Relay for Life is supported by First Lady Sofie Tenorio, who is the honorary chairperson of the newly-established American Cancer Society NMI Presence Unit, and assisted by Atty. Robert T. Torres as chairman.

To register, please call Atty. Torres at 234-6215 or Bobbie Grizzard at 322-9464.
