Whatever happened to strong family ties?
I was dumbfounded when I read the article titled “Ice on the rise again”. Since the day I arrived on the island, I heard about growing use of the illegal among the people of CNMI. But saying it on the rise is an understatement.
Some of us choose to not do a about it because of family ties, politics or it is a form of making a living, etc. If we are concern about the matter then stop talking about it and just do whatever is necessary to eliminate this problem.
Where did we go wrong? Whatever happened to the strong beliefs about family and moral standards?
As I was growing up, my mother would tell me stories about Saipan and its people. When I finally had the chance to go down and see how beautiful island is, I was shocked and disappointed.
I commend those people in the CNMI who work hard to address this problem. But I would like to remind them, too, that any change being made to improve just half of the problem will not stand strong because the foundation it’s built upon will crumble instantly.
I hope all the hardwork will be for the future generations of CNMI.
